DESTINATION GUIDE
Paris

Paris rewards slow mornings and long lunches as much as monument-hopping — arguably the rare capital where doing less is doing it right.

A few things decide already knows about Paris before it even runs a live search - grounded background, not a substitute for the price checks a real itinerary still runs.

Getting around
The Metro is extensive and walkable between adjacent arrondissements; a carnet of tickets or a Navigo Easy pass is cheaper per ride than buying single tickets one at a time.
Tourist-trap watch
Restaurants with laminated multi-language menus directly on the Champs-Élysées or immediately outside major sights (Louvre, Eiffel Tower base) are reliably overpriced and lower quality than anywhere 2-3 streets away.
Montmartre near Sacré-Cœur has a high density of pressure-selling street vendors (friendship bracelets, "found ring" routines) — politely declining and continuing to walk works better than engaging.
What things cost
A sit-down bistro dinner for two with wine typically runs €60-90; a lunchtime "formule" (starter+main or main+dessert) at the same bistros is often €18-25 and much better value than dinner.
Worth knowing
The Louvre is far less crowded in the first 90 minutes after opening or during Wednesday/Friday late nights than the mid-afternoon peak most visitors hit by default.
Practical
Many small Parisian restaurants and cafés close for a few hours in the afternoon (roughly 2:30-7pm) and are cash-preferred for small amounts.
Dietary notes
Vegetarian and vegan options have expanded significantly, especially in the Marais and around Canal Saint-Martin; traditional bouillons and brasseries are far more limited.
