Prague's old town is dense and walkable, its skyline and bridges doing most of the visual work without much effort required.
A few things decide already knows about Prague before it even runs a live search - grounded background, not a substitute for the price checks a real itinerary still runs.
Getting around
A single Prague public transport ticket covers metro, tram, and bus for a fixed time window rather than a single ride — a 24 or 72-hour pass is cheaper if sightseeing all day, every day.
Tourist-trap watch
Restaurants in Old Town Square and along the main route to Prague Castle are reliably 2-3x the price of equivalent food a few streets away; menus without listed prices at some tourist-strip restaurants have been a documented overcharging tactic — always confirm prices before ordering.
Currency exchange booths advertising "0% commission" in the most touristy streets typically build a poor exchange rate into the rate itself — ATM withdrawals or exchanges a few streets off the main tourist path are usually better value.
Worth knowing
The Charles Bridge is dramatically less crowded at sunrise (before roughly 8am) than any other time of day, when it's standing-room-only with tour groups.
Practical
Tipping isn't obligatory but rounding up or adding roughly 10% is customary at sit-down restaurants; it's not included by default the way it is in some other European countries.
Dietary notes
Traditional Czech food is meat- and dumpling-heavy (svíčková, guláš); central Prague now has a reasonable number of vegetarian-specific restaurants, but traditional pivnice (beer halls) offer little.
